La Brea Memories.

Wonderful memories, great strength.

Remembered as "New Jersey", this spot marks the entrance to what was once the Brighton Camp. Once the most beautiful spot in the world. Not only its obvious beauty in what you could see, but the in the people who lived and worked there. In this pic the Lake Asphalt Dispensary still stands with the Lake Asphalt flag flying proudly outside. The entrance gate to Brighton is still there as it was back then, essentially unchanged.......the big metal disc with the Texaco logo is gone, so are the policemen we knew. In this pic the angle is bad and we can't see much of the "gate". Who remember Millionaire?

Looking up from the bottom of the La Brea main road, I seem to remember that the Warden's office and the home where the Wiltshires lived would have been among the buildings in the pic above.

Wow! The old Police Station and Magistrate's court looks exactly the same. The Police Station is certainly still functioning but not sure about the Court and the post Office??

This grassy field where the Flavian cinema once stood still entertains the young men of La Brea who play cricket and other games here.

The sleek lines of my new Primera blend beautifully with the old Presbyterian Church behind. Right across the road from the new Complex, this old building is exactly as I remember it over thirty years ago.

While many things around it may have changed, the Anglican Church remains the same. I seem to remember the Kuncles??
